Peter Malekian founded AlpRidge Capital in 2014 with a vision to create a private investment firm focused on building a portfolio of high achieving platform companies in the lower middle-market.

Peter has more than 20 years of private equity and finance experience and a successful track record of investing in and advising middle-market companies. He has completed investments in a wide variety of industries including software and technology, business services, franchisors, consumer, supply chain, food, manufacturing, healthcare and education.

Prior to AlpRidge Capital, Peter spent 13 years at MCG Capital, a publicly traded middle-market investment firm. At MCG he was an Executive Vice President, Co-Head of Asset Management and Credit Committee Member, and a Principal and Investment Committee Member of Solutions Capital, MCG’s SBIC fund. During his tenure, in addition to leading the investment team, he personally sourced and led investments in more than 20 companies with $2 billion in enterprise value and served on 18 portfolio company boards. Through organic growth and acquisitions, many of these companies have transformed their industry niches, enabling Peter to build a highly successful equity and debt investment track record.

Prior to MCG, Peter was an investment banker at Ferris Baker Watts with a focus on lower middle-market companies. Prior to that, he served as a consultant with Arthur Andersen, and prior to that he was an auditor. He started his business career as an entrepreneur in his family business while completing his undergraduate education.

Peter’s value system is based on hard work, mutual respect and taking a long-term view in life, people and business. He lives in Great Falls, Virginia, with his wife, son and daughter. He is an avid soccer player, skier and an aspiring fisherman. He is also involved in youth sports and philanthropic endeavors.

Peter holds an MBA in general management from Cornell University with Distinction and a BS in Accounting with honors from George Mason University. He is a CPA.
